Tom Wyatt insists there is much for Exeter Chiefs to strive for this season, starting with next month's Premiership Rugby Cup final.
The talented full-back played a lead role for the Devonians as they eased past Sale Sharks 46-3 to set up a final assignment against London Irish at the Gtech Stadium on Sunday, March 19 (2pm).
Wyatt scored one of Exeter's six tries in a man-of-the-match performance that secured a 12th major final appearance in nine years for the Chiefs in all competitions.
"It's a memory that will certainly stick in our heads," said Wyatt at the final whistle. "There are a lot of young lads out there who want to make an impression - and we've all gone out there, had a good run round and it's just what we're looking for, it's a great win!"
Although the Chiefs trailed to an early Tom Curtis penalty, the remainder of the match belonged to the home side who, along with Wyatt's score, added further tries through Santiago Grondona, Sean O’Brien, Rus Tuima, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Dan Frost.
Fly-half Iwan Jenkins kicked a further 16 points to seal the victory, which now sets up a mouth-watering encounter against the Exiles, who themselves overcame Northampton Saints 30-18 in the other semi-final.
Wyatt - who is on dual-registered terms with Championship outfit, Cornish Pirates, again this season - certainly took his chance to shine on the big stage, producing an eye-catching display alongside a number of the club's rising stars.
Over the years, the Premiership Rugby Cup has served as a perfect platform for up-and-coming youngsters to showcase their talents and Wyatt was more than happy to take that opportunity once again.
"We're all sad to see some of the more senior guys go at the end of the season, but for us young lads it's an opportunity for us to step up and make our own memories," he added. "I think for young guys looking up, there is so much to strive for. The stats over the years almost make it feel like we have to do well, so it's a good driver for us."
