Summer camps prove a real hit

Youngsters from across the region have been getting ahead of the game thanks to the support of the Exeter Chiefs Community department.
In a busy summer for the Community Chiefs, over 450 children from across four different counties have been honing their skills ahead of the new season on one of our many rugby camps.
Developed and designed by our team of professional coaches using the most up to date techniques, the camps – which also included visits from members of the Exeter Chiefs first team squad – offer young people the best possible experience and insight into the modern-day game.
Highlighting the work carried out, Chiefs’ Community coach, Aron Struminski, said: “It’s been great to travel to so many different places, meeting lots of new faces, as well as seeing a few old ones.
“The summer holidays offer the children a great opportunity to try and breakdown rugby’s fundamental skills, whilst at the same time ingrain some new ones into players for them to be able to use going in to next season.
“Fun is obviously paramount to us, but if we can teach someone a new skill that helps them in their rugby, then that’s the icing on the cake for us.”
As well as future camps coming up, the Community Chiefs will soon begin work on delivering coaching programmes into local schools, as well as welcoming hundreds to Sandy Park for the ever-popular Super Saturday match-day experience.
