PWR players to benefit from new partnership with Physique
Dedicated recovery packs are to be provided to players at every Premiership Women's Rugby club as the league signs a new partnership with Physique.
The league has welcomed a new partnership between Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) and Physique Management Company (Physique) which will deliver a direct benefit to hundreds of our players for the next three years.
Physique have worked with the PWR medical team to put together player recovery packs for players. They will also supply everything needed by the medical and physio team, from pitch side first aid, taping and strapping to rehab and exercise and trauma care.
Physique brings more than 25 years of experience in providing sports healthcare products to all levels of sports, from junior to senior teams and amateur to elite sports teams. Alongside their work with PWR they also partner with a numerous other sports organisations including: British Athletics, England Netball, GB Hockey , England Amputee Football Association and British Judo.
Simi Pam, who is both a Bears prop and a locum doctor, says, “Women’s rugby is getting faster and more physical every season so it’s crucial the players are as well prepared as possible for matches.
“Player welfare is at the heart of this partnership. By collaborating with club representatives, the player packs will provide players with key equipment to support them pre- and post-game so they can perform at their best."
Managing Director, Physique, Kevin Peters says,“Women’s rugby players have clear physio and medical needs before, during and after matches in order to perform at the highest level. We are looking forward to working with the PWR to make sure player welfare is the priority and will work with physio and medical teams to make sure they have access to the best products and support.”
The player-packs, have been created in collaboration with the Women’s Medical Advisory Group, club representatives and managed by PWR’s Medical Services Officer, Holly Peace. They will include products like foam rollers, massage balls and resistance bands to help players with match preparation and rehabilitation.
Additionally, clubs will get have access to the full range of Physique products and expertise, including Tiger Tapes the go-to taping and strapping brand in elite sport. This agreement means Tiger Tapes will be the Official Taping and Strapping brand for the PWR.
The announcement confirms the latest in a series of player-focused PWR partnerships, designed to benefit our players:
- PWR’s partnership with Canterbury provides three players of rugby boots for each PWR player
- As part of our relationship with Estee Lauder, four of our players (Abi Burton, Akina Gondwe, Claudia Macdonald and Sadia Kabeya) were made Clinique ambassadors of the 24-25 season. In addition, we now award the Clinque GameFace Player of the Match with Clinique products
- PWR’s new partnership with Catapult brings innovative athlete monitoring technology – exactly like the men’s game - and video integration to rugby union in England. Together, these tools will empower the PWR practitioners and coaches to make informed choices on strategy, athlete performance, and injury management.
- PWR’s arrangement with Greenfly gives all players the opportunity to receive photographs and video each week of PWR so players can use professional content in their own channels to help develop their brand and profile.
