The RFU has confirmed that the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s final will be held at Sixways, the home of Worcester Warriors. With the Exeter Chiefs currently sat third in the table and with some important fixtures coming up, the Women have put themselves in a strong position to compete for silverware at the final on Friday 3 June, KO 3pm.
The top four teams in the competition will progress to semi-final play-offs, played at the home ground of the top two teams on the weekend of 21 May /22 May with the finalists competing for the title just under a fortnight later.
Tickets will go on sale from today (Wednesday 23 March) and will be available here.
After 16 rounds and the most competitive league campaign to date, current leaders Saracens are the only side guaranteed a spot in the top four with Bristol Bears, Exeter Chiefs, Harlequins and Wasps and Loughborough Lightning battling for the remaining places in the final two rounds. Sixways has hosted a number of international matches, the most recent England Women’s autumn international against the USA which attracted a 7,515 strong crowd.
Alex Teasdale, Head of Women’s Game at the RFU said: “We are really looking forward to taking the Allianz Premier 15s final to Sixways.
“Worcester Warriors‘ commitment to the women’s and girls’ game, both with their own programme and more broadly is admirable and it’s exciting to work together.
“It’s been a difficult couple of years for everyone and we are thankful we can now welcome full crowds to our stadia.
“I’d encourage the people of Worcester, supporters of both finalists once known, fans of the league and the wider rugby public to secure their seats and be a part of what will be a memorable atmosphere and occasion.”
Worcester Warriors Managing Director Peter Kelly said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Allianz Premier 15s final at Sixways Stadium, an occasion which promises to be a thrilling climax to the campaign.
“Sixways played host to the Red Roses last November when they took on USA Eagles in front of a bumper crowd, so there is an appetite for top level women’s rugby and we can’t wait for the showpiece event.”
Carolyn Rich, Head of Brand Marketing and Social Responsibility at Allianz, said: “The Allianz Premier 15s final is the showpiece event in English domestic women’s rugby and Sixways is a brilliant venue.
“As Official Insurance Partner of England Rugby, and title partner of Allianz Premier 15s and Inner Warrior, increasing interest and awareness of the women’s game is a big part of what we do and this final will only enhance this.
“This has been a competitive and enjoyable season on the field and one we’re proud to have been a part of.
“We’re really looking forward to the event which will be a real celebration of the season overall.”
