Exeter Chiefs Women’s lock/back-row Harriet Millar-Mills has confirmed she will be leaving the club once the 2023/24 Allianz PWR season has concluded.

The Stockport-born forward will leave the club after just one season, where she made her mark with 20 appearances and scored five tries, including a hat-trick against Sale Sharks Women in the early rounds of the Allianz Cup.

The former England player made her debut in September against Warriors Women after a spell away from the sport. The 33-year-old maths teacher has blended her rugby career with studying for a masters at the University of Exeter.

Head coach Susie Appleby said: “Harriet came to us with so much experience, which made her a real asset to the club. I hope she goes away with plenty of positive memories from her time here with us, not least getting engaged at Sandy Park! We will miss her but wish her well for her future rugby career and life away from the sport.”

Millar-Mills said: “I can’t thank the Chiefs family enough for getting me back into rugby and enjoying the game I love. The club and the people here are amazing I will miss being part of this environment. I am so grateful I have had chance to be a full-time athlete but look forward to what next season brings.”

Millar-Mills originally followed her brother Elliot, who was capped for Scotland this year, into the sport by joining his junior training sessions. Her sister Bridget was also capped for Scotland.

From her first club Manchester RFC, Millar-Mills joined Lichfield in 2013 before a 2017 move to Wasps Ladies.

The 33-year-old earned 66 caps for England, including the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup, and also represented her country in the sevens format of the game.

Back on the club stage, Millar-Mills picked up Premiership’s Players’ Player of the Year awards for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.

The club would like to thank Harriet for everything she has given to Chiefs Women, and everyone wishes her all the best for the future.
