London Marathon calls for three Exeter Chiefs Women’s staff members
Three members of the Exeter Chiefs Women’s staff will be taking on the TCS London Marathon on Sunday, April 21.
Head coach Susie Appleby will be joined by team manager Cat Moore and media manager Caroline Moore for the 26.2-mile course through the capital city.
All three are running for good causes with Susie running for rugby charity Wooden Spoon, Cat for Exeter’s FORCE Cancer Charity, and Caroline for the RFU Injured Players Foundation.
Susie said: “I took up running when I retired from rugby. I love just running the miles around where I live to clear my head and for the physical endurance. When the opportunity to run for Wooden Spoon was offered to me, it seemed like the perfect fit…and this year’s London Marathon does not clash with a match day!”
This will be Cat’s second London Marathon, but the first for Caroline and Susie.
Cat said: “I was lucky enough to get a place in the ballot so I could hardly turn it down! It seemed like a good opportunity to raise some money for a local charity too. As last time, the training plan set by Abby Middlebrooke‘s dad Andy at Exercise Science Consulting Ltd will definitely help get me through it!”
Caroline said: “Having supported rugby for 40 years and having worked in the sport too, this seemed like the perfect charity to run for. I ran the Virtual London Marathon back in 2021 but I am excited, and slightly terrified, to run one of the biggest marathons in the world. I am hoping the crowd and the flat terrain will carry me through when the going gets tough.”
