Exeter Chiefs Mark Remembrance with Pre-Match Ceremony
Exeter Chiefs held a pre-match ceremony ahead of their Hartpury Premiership Cup clash yesterday to mark Remembrance 2024.
Exeter Chiefs and Hartpury were both represented on the pitch by their players and coaches. Also joining Rob Baxter for Exeter Chiefs was Tony Rowe, CEO and Chairman.
Alongside rugby personnel were local dignitaries – including the Deputy Lord Mayor – and representatives of the military branches based in Exeter.
The service was led by Exeter Rugby Club Chaplain, Simon Atkinson, who welcomed supporters to Sandy Park before encouraging them to take a few minutes reflection to remember those fallen in all major conflicts.
After the Last Post was played by a lone bugler, there was a minute’s silence observed by all those in the Devon stadium.
Following a prayer, and as the game prepared to kick off, Rowe and Atkinson led dignitaries into the County Suite to lay wreaths at the foot of the club’s War Memorial.
On this Remembrance Day, Exeter Chiefs join the country in observing another minute’s silence.
Lest We Forget.
