Exeter Rugby Club notes the government’s decision today to move Devon into Tier Three from Thursday, December 31.
As a result, the upcoming Gallagher Premiership encounter with Bristol Bears to be played at Sandy Park on Saturday, January 9 will now be played behind closed doors.
We will continue to review future fixtures after this time - including the Heineken Champions Cup clash with Toulouse on Saturday, January 16 - but the club will be bound by restrictions laid out by the authorities.Of course, everyone associated with the Chiefs are disappointed with this latest development, but we appreciate the importance of overcoming this pandemic together.
We thank Exeter Chiefs fans for their support in the recent fixtures against Glasgow Warriors and Gloucester, where a small section of supporters were allowed inside Sandy Park, and to those who continue to support us from afar through the BT Sport Match Pass, retail sales, and other contributions during the current crisis.
