Exeter Chiefs duo Maisy Allen and Claudia MacDonald have both been named on a three-player shortlist for the Premier 15s Player of the Year at the upcoming Rugby Players’ Association awards.
Both have enjoyed a stellar season for Susie Appleby’s side, who have already retained the Allianz Cup, as well as booking their place in next month’s league play-offs.
They will be battling for the top prize alongside Gloucester-Hartpury’s Natasha Hunt at tomorrow night’s star-studded event, which will be held at Evolution London.
Back-row forward Allen has been in fantastic form for the Chiefs this season, scoring 18 tries for the club, as well as impressing for England Under-20s in the recent Six Nations Championship.
MacDonald, meanwhile, has loved her first season in Chiefs colours, having joined the club from Wasps last summer. The gifted back was part of England’s Rugby World Cup squad in New Zealand, as well as the Grand Slam-winning side in this season’s Six Nations.
Christian Day, General Secretary of the RPA, said: “The Eterlast RPA Awards recognises outstanding performances from abroad the 22-23’ season. To be nominated by your peers, and particularly those that you play against, remains the greatest accolade for any rugby player. All our nominees have had standout seasons and we look forwards to finding out the winners on the night.”
