Exeter Chiefs players brought Christmas cheer and presents to a local children’s hospital last week ahead of the holidays.

The visit to the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Bramble Ward saw players hand out toys and gifts on behalf of their Chiefs teammates.

Hallam Chapman, Jack Yeandle, Olly Woodburn, Scott Sio, Jacques Vermeulen, Paul Brown-Bampoe, Jack Dunne and Kane James were instrumental in distributing the gifts at the ward.

Club captain Jack Yeandle, who has been a part of these visits for years, says players always value the chance to spread the cheer to children having to spend their holidays in hospital.

“It’s always special being welcomed into the ward by the nurses, children and families there. We really appreciate the chance to interact with the kids, including some who were Chiefs fans, and making sure that every kid has a unique memory at Christmas.

“Each player in the squad helped us amass a wide variety of presents and the group of us that went really enjoyed getting to see the smiles on faces as we handed them out. I think, now that a lot of us have young families of our own, we know the importance of seeing the joy on their faces.”

We would like to thank everyone on the ward for welcoming us and wish them all a very Merry Christmas.
