Exeter Chiefs and Otter Brewery have today extended their long-standing partnership together with a new five-year agreement.
Building on a strong relationship that pre-dates the Devon club’s promotion into top-flight rugby in 2010, news of this agreement has been welcomed by both parties, who toasted the announcement with a pint of Otter outside of the Wigwam Bar at Sandy Park.
Otter Brewery’s strong link with the Chiefs means that are not only the official cask beer for match-days, but they are a long-standing kit sponsor with their iconic logo appear on the shorts of the players.
On the pitch, the hugely popular ‘Otter Half-Time Challenge’ has become somewhat of a stadium tradition with the format evolving year on year to keep things fresh.
Patrick McCaig from Otter Brewery said: “Rugby is definitely in our veins and the relationship that we have fostered with the Chiefs is one that we cherish. Thirsty fans coming to Sandy Park are not only guaranteed a rousing day out, watching some of the game’s superstar names, but also that have the chance to take on ‘Derek the Otter’ in our new obstacle course at half-time.
“More than this though, the club is a real force for good around Devon and raise tens of thousands of pounds each year via the club’s official charity, the Exeter Chiefs Foundation, which helps support so many local and worthwhile charities.
“As a company, we’re pleased to play a part In that too, as well as helping encourage the next generation of players.”
Tony Rowe OBE, Chairman & Chief Executive of Exeter Rugby Club, added: “We’re delighted that we are able to extend our long-standing partnership with Otter Brewery. Together we have over the years forged a fantastic and winning formula when it comes to providing entertainment and beer at Sandy Park.
“We look forward to building on that over the next five years and thank Otter Brewery for their continued support towards the Chiefs and, of course, the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.”
