Canada Women kicked off their 2023 Pacific Four Series with a massive 50-17 win over the USA Eagles in Madrid.

In a dominant display from Kevin Rouet’s side, whose victory stretched their winning streak over the Americans to eight games.

Exeter Chiefs hooker Emily Tuttosi set her side on the victory path, claiming the game’s opening try on nine minutes when she crossed from a well-controlled maul.

Joined in the side by club-mate, Daleaka Menin, Canada were able to extend their lead further with a quick fire try double from Sabrina Poulin.

However, the USA were able to counter with a penalty from Exeter’s Gabby Cantorna, before Fancy Bermudez fended off a number of Eagles defenders to make the score 26-3 at the break.

On the resumption, Canada were again quickly into their stride, pulling further clear as Sarah-Maude Lachance latched onto a pass from Tyson Beukeboom to add a fifth try.

To their credit, the USA continued to plug away and it was another Chiefs player, Hope Rogers, who grabbed their first try of the contest, finishing off great approach work from club-mate Rachel Johnson.

Although Canada had Sara Svoboda sent to the sidelines for a ten-minute stint, they were able to finish with a canter as Beukeboom, Emma Taylor and Gillian Boag all found their way over the whitewash to seal a resounding success.

All the Eagles could muster in terms of a further reply was a late score for Lotte Clapp.
