Bricknell Signs for Chiefs Women
Former Worcester Warriors back rower Taz Bricknell has signed with Exeter Chiefs for the 2023/24 PWR season.
Kent-born forward Bricknell first started playing rugby at Sheppey RFC when she was just four years old having grown up with a father and uncle who both played rugby – all but forcing a love of the game on the youngster. She took to it well and has never looked back.
At just 25 years old, Bricknell has already enjoyed brief spells representing fellow PWR sides Bristol Bears Women and Gloucester-Hartpury before a five-year spell at Worcester Warriors Women.
Following the situation at Worcester, Bricknell was looking for an opportunity when the light began to shine upon a move to Devon. The forward hopes her first season with Chiefs Women will be one in which she is challenged and pushed to improve.
“I had played at Worcester Warriors for five years and was absolutely heartbroken when the club went down. It was so important that my next club shared the same values and culture.”
“Chiefs has been amazing so far and I definitely see it as the place I will look to finish my rugby career at. I am very grateful to be given this opportunity and cannot wait to get stuck in.”
“I feel that training and playing alongside a lot of experienced players will help me progress, learn and better myself.”
Head coach Susie Appleby has been able to see Bricknell in action in training for this year’s PWR season which has started strongly for Chiefs Women, though Bricknell’s debut is still to come for Exeter.
