Academy side to face Royal Navy

Exeter Chiefs Academy manager Rob Gibson says he is looking forward to running the rule over a number of the club's highly-rated youngsters in tonight's friendly against the Royal Navy at Sandy Park (7pm).

In what is the third meeting between the two sides, the New Zealander says the clash offers him and his fellow coaches the perfect opportunity to see players in competitive action against quality opposition.

"Tonight should be a good test for us," said Gibson. "Over the years we've had some great fixtures against the Navy and I've no doubt this will be another tough fixture for us.  For us, it's not only a decent fixture on the calendar, but it allows us as coaches to have a real close look at players in a meaningful match.

"We've got a number of players on duty who have been training full-time this season with the Chiefs, so it will be interesting to see how they step up, plus we've got others who are within the system who we don't always get to see week in, week out. For us, it's a win-win situation and we're looking to get a lot from the game."

Admission for the game this evening is FREE to all, but please note that parking on-site is chargeable and comes on a first come, first served basis.
