Williams happy to get stuck in
Harry Williams has spoken of his delight at making his Exeter Chiefs debut in Sunday's European Champions Cup win over the Ospreys.
The prop came on for the final 18 minutes of Exe's 33-17 victory at Sandy Park.
Recruited from Championship outfit Jersey last summer, the 24-year-old has had to bide his time for a first team opportunity.
The good form of Moray Low, Tomas Francis, Carl Rimmer and Alex Brown have meant opportunities have been somewhat limited, but an earlier injury sustained playing for the Exeter Braves in the A League hardly helped Williams' cause.
"I wouldn't call it frustration because when you join a club like this there is a lot of competition and you never expect just to walk into the team," he said. "But I am over the moon to have just got out there and got stuck in."
"I've never really been involved in a game like that before and it was amazing. I'm grateful really, I can't really put it into words. I'm over the moon," he continued. "The crowd were ridiculous. I played a little bit in pre-season, but having the East Terrace packed out like that at the end of the warm-up was spine-tingling. It was incredible."
The win saw the Chiefs make the last eight of the European Champions Cup by virtue of a better points difference in the games against the Ospreys and Bordeaux-Bègles.
And Williams revelead that there was shock and surprise in the changing room after the game.
"There was more shock than anything. Going into the game it was all about our performance, going out there and putting our game on them," he said. "To go through was more shock than anything else – there is an air of disbelief in there."
