Exeter Chiefs prop Tomas Francis played the full 80 minutes as Wales returned to winning ways against Argentina at the Principality Stadium.
Undone by Australia seven days earlier, the Welsh were much improved in this latest encounter, one in which tight-head Francis helped to play his part.
Liam Williams and Gareth Davies both claimed tries for Rob Howley's side, while full-back Leigh Halfpenny proved his deadly self with his goalkicking, landing four penalties and a conversion.
In reply, the Pumas bagged tries through Juan Martin Hernandez and Martin Landajo, both of which were converted by Nicolas Sanchez who also added two penalties.
Next up for the Welsh is the visit of Japan this Saturday.
North of the Border, Chiefs prop Moray Low was a second half replacement as Scotland were undone at the death by Australia at Murrayfield.
Huw Jones bagged a brace of tries for the home side, alongside another from Jonny Gray, while skipper Greig Laidlaw kicked a further seven points.
However, it was the Wallabies - who included former Chiefs skipper Dean Mumm in their ranks - who ultimately prevailed thanks to tries from Tevita Kuridrani and Reece Hodge, both of which were converted by Bernard Foley, who also slotted three penalties.
Meanwhile, former Chiefs winger Fetu'u Vainikolo scored one of Tonga's four tries in their 28-10 win over Spain.
Vainikolo crossed in the first half, along with Dan Faleafa, before the Ikale Tahi added further scores after the break through Kali Hala and Sonatane Takulua, who also bagged four conversions.
Current Chiefs hooker Elvis Taione added to his international tally of caps, coming off the bench for the visitors who this weekend will tackle USA in Spain.
