Exeter Chiefs will kick-off their Singha Premiership Rugby 7s Series against defending champions Gloucester at Kingsholm on Thursday, August 20.

The Devon club are one of four clubs who will be in action in Round Two of this year’s competition, which features not only all 12 Aviva Premiership clubs, but also the four Welsh regions.

The Chiefs – who will again come under the guidance of skills coach Ricky Pellow – will not only tackle the Cherry & Whites on their own turf, but also top flight rivals Bath and London Irish.

The series itself will kick-off in Wales with the opening matches at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, August 15, where the four Welsh Pro teams will go head-to-head in an exciting afternoon of summer derby rugby.

Five days later the series continues at Gloucester with the Series Final eight days later at the Twickenham Stoop.

"The 7s Series kicked off in 2010 and since then it has become a significant date in the rugby calendar," said the Rugby Director at Premiership Rugby, Phil Winstanley.

"We started last season's event with more than 13,000 people at Kingsholm and we expect the demand to be high again this year.

"Twelve months before rugby returns to the Olympics - in Rio - it is crucial that Premiership Rugby continues to lead the way when it comes to club 7s. This will be an important competition and will start a run-in to the Olympic Games when rugby will be firmly in the world spotlight."
