Exeter Chiefs supporters are invited to join the club’s players, coaches and officials for a special Remembrance Service at Sandy Park on Wednesday, November 11 (10:30am).

The Armistice Day service, which will be held in the County Suite and is open to all, will be conducted by club chaplain Simon Atkinson to remember those associated with the club who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in battle.

Until last year, Exeter Rugby Club had proudly displayed a memorial plaque of the names of those former players who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War.

However, new information supplied to the club through local historian and club supporter Roy Hough unearthed a further 12 men associated with the Devon club who themselves never returned from the battlefields of the First World War.

Again these former players will be remembered by the club with a special wreath presentation and minute’s silence during the service.

Also in attendance will be representatives from the Royal Marines, 6 Rifles and Dartmouth Naval College.

Those wishing to attend are advised the service will start prompt at 10:30am, but early arrival from 10am is advised.
