The holiday is over and the boys are raring to go – that’s the message from Exeter Chiefs back Jack Nowell as England’s Rugby World Cup training camp gets underway.

Cornishman Nowell, who scored three tries in the RBS 6 Nations, said there was excitement as England reconvened at Pennyhill Park.

“Everybody’s had their time off now and their chance to recover,” he said. “I know a lot of the boys feel the same – they are ready to go back in once they have had a couple of weeks off.

“I think if you are lucky enough to be involved in these camps you have got to be training hard, you have got to be doing your best.

“There’s no real excuse to take it easy. This is where it starts, where it begins.”

Nowell believes some tough decisions lay ahead for Head Coach Stuart Lancaster as he looks to reduce his training squad from 50 to 31 and that his good form at the end of the RBS 6 Nations counts for little.

“You have got to draw the line under that because no-one has their position set. There are so many great players in this camp now, so it is almost starting again. There is going to be a lot of competition in every position.”
