EPCR Pool Two Standings

EPCR would like to clarify the position regarding the current standings in Pool 2 of the European Rugby Champions Cup.

Exeter Chiefs have 10 match points from three matches played to date in Pool 2. Ospreys also have 10 match points from three matches played, however, Exeter Chiefs are in first place by virtue of a superior points difference (+20 as against +10) as provided for in the Tournament Rules of the 2015/16 Champions Cup Participation Agreement.

The fact that the Ospreys defeated Exeter Chiefs in Round 1, gaining four match points in the process, is not in itself relevant at this stage of the tournament in determining which of the two clubs are higher in the standings.

In order to determine which club finishes higher when two clubs in the same pool have the same number of match points, the results of the two matches played between the two clubs are only taken into account at the end of the pool stage.
