Welshman Adam Hughes has been brought into the Exeter Chiefs squad ahead of Friday's Singha Premiership 7s Finals Night at the Twickenham Stoop.

The talented centre, who moved to Sandy Park from the Newport-Gwent Dragons at the start of last season, is given the nod over youngster Ted Landray.

Hughes' inclusion is the sole change to the 12-man squad, which will again be skippered by Sam Simmonds.

The Chiefs booked their place at Finals Night - where they will face Wasps in the quarter-final - having advanced from Group B alongside defending champions Gloucester.

Ricky Pellow's side lost their opening game last Thursday against the Cherry & Whites, but then recorded victories over Bath and London Irish.

And skills coach Pellow is expecting a terrific atmosphere in the capital. “It will be one hell of a night down there,” said the Cornishman. “I think for us to qualify and go down there and be in the finals will be a real test for the guys. It’s what we want as coaches though – to put the young guys in these positons to test their mental character and physical character.

“The sides who have already qualified means there will be some individuals who have been on the sevens circuit with a sprinkling of younger guys. And I’m just really excited to see what we can do down there. After playing at Kingsholm, to see them going down there full of confidence will be great.”
