Chiefs is a special club - James
By Mark Stevens
Departing winger Tom James says Exeter Chiefs will forever hold a special place in his heart as he prepares to return home to Wales to continue his playing career.
After two seasons at Sandy Park, the 28-year-old is rejoining former club Cardiff Blues where he scored a record 39 tries in 115 appearances during his first spell between 2006 and 2013.
However, during his time in Devon the Rhymney-born speedster has certainly won many admirers with his explosive, on-field running and his all-action displays, both in the Aviva Premiership, LV= Cup and Europe.
"I've had two great years down in Exeter," said James. "I've been lucky to be part of a special group of players and a club that is clearly on the rise.
"Whenever you leave a club is always sad, but I'll leave the Chiefs with a lot of memories and a lot of good friends. From the coaches to my team-mates, the staff around the club and the supporters, they've all been brilliant from the day I arrived.
"Obviously I’ll miss everyone associated with the Chiefs, but I'll always look out for the club and their results. As I've said before, it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but I have a huge affinity with the Blues and at this stage of my career it’s a good move for me.”
Since making his debut against Northampton Saints in September 2013, James amassed 39 appearances for the Chiefs, scoring eight tries in the process.
