Championship outfit London Scottish have today confirmed the signing of Will Carrick-Smith from Exeter Chiefs.

The 23-year-old lock, who was released by the Aviva Premiership club at the end of last season, is one of two new arrivals, alongside Tyrone Moran from Leinster, confirmed by head coach Peter Richards.

A product of the Chiefs academy system for four seasons, Carrick-Smith - who stands at 6'11 and tops the scales at over 20 stone - made 11 first team appearances for the club, scoring two tries - both of which were against London Welsh in an LV= Cup encounter in 2012/13 season.

The London-born forward, who is looking to help the Exiles build on last season's third-placed finish, said: "I'm very pleased to be joining London Scottish, they play good quality rugby and it's the right club for me to improve my game.

"I'm already settling in well after just one training session and I'm excited about the new season ahead."

Welcoming Carrick-Smith, who has previously enjoyed loan spells in the Championship with Plymouth Albion, London Welsh and the Cornish Pirates, Richards said: "They are both great signings for the club and are going to offer great competition and depth at hooker and second-row.

"They are physical players and we are looking forward to seeing them get a run out in next week's friendly against Rotherham.

"Will has Premiership experience with Exeter and Tyrone Pro12 experience with Leinster, so it is great to be able to bring in this calibre of player into our squad."
