Exeter Chiefs may have only just brought the curtain down on what has been their best-ever season to date in the Aviva Premiership and Europe, but planning for next season’s campaign is already under way.

Due to the continued success of the Devon club – on and off the field – we are looking for additional stewards to assist on match-days.

Deputy Chief Executive, Keiron Northcott, said: “Our gates have continued to increase in line with the stadium development and we have had a total of five sell-out games this season. With an average match-day crowd of 10,000 spectators, so the demands of our volunteer stewards have also continued to increase and we have reached the time when we can no longer ask them to steward for a cup of tea and a pasty.

“Therefore from next season we will be employing all of our stewards on a casual basis.”

Exeter Chiefs v La Rochelle 131214Keiron was quick to praise the efforts already given by the existing team, adding: “This is in no way a criticism of the previous stewarding, but just as the team on the pitch is run professionally, so our team off it also needs to be run professionally.

“As always our number one priority here has to be the safety and comfort of all our supporters.”

Since arriving in the Premiership back in 2010, the Chiefs have created an award-winning, match-day experience that is unrivalled not only in the top flight, but also across those the club face in European competition.

Keiron continued: “One of the main reasons for winning these awards has been because of the knowledge and helpfulness of our existing stewards and it is important that we maintain this moving forward.

“Already I am extremely pleased that a good number of the existing team have applied for the paid positions next season, but we do need more people to come on board.”

If you are interested in applying to become one of the match-day stewards, please e mail [email protected] in the first instance. You will be expected to be able to attend most of the Chiefs fixtures and this will include Rugby World Cup games.
