Webb Ellis Cup heads for Exeter
Rugby’s greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, is heading to Sandy Park and Exeter this Saturday as the countdown to Rugby World Cup 2015 begins to intensify.
With just over a year to go until the big kick-off, the famous gold trophy will be on display at Exeter’s historic Guildhall and then at Sandy Park ahead of the Aviva Premiership clash between Exeter Chiefs and Leicester Tigers.
The visit comes as up to one million tickets go on general sale for all 48 matches at next year's tournament. This includes tickets for the three games set to be staged here in Exeter between - Tonga and Namibia; Namibia and Georgia and Italy against Romania.
Ticket prices for these matches start at £7 for children and £15 for adults and can be applied for at www.tickets.rugbyworldcup.com from September 12-29.
The people of Exeter will be able to have their picture taken with the Webb Ellis Cup Trophy at the Guildhall on the High Street from 10am until noon, before it then makes the short journey across he city to Sandy Park to celebrate the re-opening of the stadium after it’s multi-million pound summer re-development.
Fans attending the Chiefs’ game will also be able to see the trophy and have their picture taken with it, between 1pm and 3pm.
