Exeter Chiefs scrum-half Haydn Thomas has warned his team-mates that they might not get another shot at glory ahead of the LV=Cup Final on Sunday.

Rob Baxter's side take on Aviva Premiership leaders Northampton Saints at their home ground in the final and Thomas is sure that his side can match them all the way.

The Chiefs beat Bath 22-19 to book their place in the final but their opponents comprehensively disposed of second placed Saracens 26-7.

Victory would see the club lift its first ever major trophy and the 31-year-old knows that it would mean the world to the fans.

"As a player you don't get many opportunities to play in a cup final so it would be amazing to win," said Thomas.

"It will need to be a big performance from us if we are going to win but I think we are as good as anyone. We will just go for it like we do every game and we are very confident in our ability.

"On our day if we put in a good performance then we are capable of beating any side in the league.

"At the end of the day if we put in an amazing performance and don't win then that's fine and there's nothing we can do. But if we win then for the fans and the players it would just be amazing."

With a major trophy just one match away Thomas says that the atmosphere at the club is electric and everyone is excited by the prospect of making history.

"There's a good atmosphere around the place and everyone is training with excitement," said Thomas. "There is an extra buzz about the match because it's our first cup final and that makes it extra special.

"It's a one off and there is a lot riding on it so the boys are excited and aware how much it means for everyone at the club."

The Chiefs are going into the game following two consecutive victories - the first time they have accomplished back-to-back wins since November 1.

And Thomas believes that his side have faced some tricky fixtures over the last few months but could be on the cusp of a shift in fortunes.

"I think we are finding form and are playing well," he said. "We are going to be highly motivated and not afraid of their record this season."
