Premiership Rugby crowds on the rise
Aviva Premiership Rugby recorded a significant rise in attendances this season.
Premiership Rugby can confirm that compared to the 2012-13 season crowds rose by an impressive 3.1% across all 12 clubs, delivering an average attendance of 12,252, up from 11,889.
The rise took Aviva Premiership Rugby from a combined season total of 1,569,298 to 1,617,278 fans across the campaign.
• Average attendance in 2013-14: 12,252
• Up 3.1%
• Total number of fans at matches: 1,617,278
"In challenging economic times, this is a remarkable result for the clubs in the Aviva Premiership," said Dominic Hayes, the Commercial Director at Premiership Rugby. "Most people would agree this Aviva Premiership Rugby season has been one of the most exciting to date with more than 500 tries and the average winning margin still the lowest in the world game.
"Our clubs have made a huge effort to build their supporter base not only by creating showpiece events to bring new fans to the game but also by working hard to enhance the matchday experience at regular season games. It is clear from these figures that supporters have voted with their feet, it's a great achievement and we're looking forward to a compelling set of Aviva Premiership Rugby semi-finals this weekend."
