Mumm up for Top Try Award
By Mark Stevens
Dean Mumm's try in the Aviva Premiership home win over Worcester Warriors back in October has been named on the shortlist for the ITV Sport Try of the season, which will be announced at the forthcoming Aviva Premiership Rugby Awards night at the London Hilton, Park Lane on May 15.
The Australian, who has scored seven tries this season, will face stiff opposition for the prize from fellow top flight stars Christian Wade (London Wasps), Nick Abendanon (Bath), Kelly Brown (Saracens), Jamie Elliott (Northampton Saints) and Logo Mulipola (Leicester Tigers).
Mumm's impressive score - which was last week named Try of the Season at the club's own Awards Night held at Sandy Park - capped a fine passage of play which involved fellow Chiefs Phil Dollman, Dave Lewis and Gareth Steenson in the build-up.
"Stunning one man finishes and tries that travelled through a dozen pair of hands stand side by side on this so I know how hard it was to decide on the winner,” said Phil Winstanley the Rugby Director at Premiership Rugby. "Looking at them, any of the top six would be a worthy winner.”
