Club mourn Geoff Edmondson
Exeter Rugby Club have today expressed their condolences to the family and friends of Geoff Edmondson OBE, who died on Saturday whilst watching the Chiefs in action against Gloucester.
Mr Edmondson, a former player of the club, collapsed and died during the second half of the LV= Cup encounter at Sandy Park.
Paying tribute to the 76-year-old, Exeter Rugby Club Chairman and Chief Executive, Tony Rowe OBE, said: “Everyone associated with Exeter Rugby Club are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of one of our former players, Geoff Edmondson.
“Geoff was not only a rugby man through and through, but someone who was held in high regards by not only those of us here at Exeter Rugby Club, but within sporting and teaching circles around the city and Devon as a whole.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to Geoff’s family and friends and what must be a very difficult time.”
Mr Edmondson leaves a widow, Elisabeth, son David, daughter Catherine and five grandchildren.
