Sunday Travel Arrangements
Due to the annual Great West Run taking place in Exeter on Sunday morning, officials at the Chiefs would like to remind supporters of a few changes to normal match-day travel plans ahead of our Heineken Cup game with Cardiff Blues (12.45pm kick-off).
Ahead of the game, we can inform you of the following updates:
CARS & PARKING
For those travelling to the game by car, please note there is no parking on site at Sandy Park and for this weekend's game we will be operating our match-day Park & Ride scheme from the nearby Westpoint Arena. Parking a vehicle at the venue will cost £5 and includes a free shuttle service to and from the stadium, both before and after the game.
MATCH-DAY BUSES
For those travelling to the game by bus, the three normal match-day services are in operation. However, there are changes to both the 'C' Bus Route and also the 78 Service. The 77 Service will run as normal.
The 'C' Bus route will be able to serve St David's Station as usual, but will then have to divert along Bonhay Road to Exe Bridges and then along Western Way to reach the Bus Station. It will not be possible to serve St David's Hill, New North Road, Longbrook Street or York Road, as Sidwell Street will be completely closed.
Although the run is due to take in Exe Bridges and Western Way, these roads should be re-opened by 9.30am.
As for the 78 Service, the major change is that it will not be travelling along Pinhoe Road before the game and instead will now go along Prince Charles Road. The service post-match should return to nomal.
TRAIN
For those travelling to the game by train, the Exeter to Exmouth railway line runs right past the stadium with a regular service on match-days. Using the bridge over the A379, Digby & Sowton Station is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Sandy Park.
Supporters who are attending any games by First Great Western Trains are able to claim a 10% discount on their rail ticket, providing they produce their match ticket when purchasing.
First Great Western have set up a number of match day special trains and anyone wishing to find out more should visit their official website at www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk
In addition you can use their text feature which shows up to date train departures from their stations. If you text DIG or EXD (for Digby and St Davids respectively) to 84950 you will get an answer showing the next five or six departures with their expected times Supporters can also call 08457 48 49 50 to get an update on train times
