Moon pours the perfect drop
By Mark Stevens
Exeter Chiefs prop Ben Moon delivered pure perfection when he claimed the honours ahead of his club-mates in the recent Heineken UK Perfect Pint competition.
Having advanced through from one of six qualifying heats at pubs around the local area, Moon was judged top barman at the Finals Night held at Sandy Park.
In a fun-filled evening, the 24-year-old pipped skipper Dean Mumm and fellow forward Dave Ewers to the top prize - although there were notable entries from fellow Chiefs Ceri Sweeney, Phil Dollman, Will Carrick-Smith, Greg Bateman, Brett Sturgess, Alex Brown, Dave Lewis, Kai Horstmann and defending champion Henry Slade.
Keith Benton, Regional Manager for Heineken UK, said: "Again we'd like to thank all of the Chiefs squad for participating in the Perfect Pint competition. Not only is it great for us as a company to be associated with a great club such as the Chiefs, but having these high profile players go out into the local community and into our pubs to help promote the Heineken brand is fantastic. i would also like to thank my colleagues Adrian Deane & Coin Leach along with the Pint Perfection Team for their assistance.
"Again the competition has proved popular with all of our customers, whilst the battle between the players themselves has been pretty competitive. Heineken is all about Quality and Passion and this has truly been demonstrated by all".
The event, which also included an appearance by the Heineken Cup Trophy itself, helped form part of this season's competition launch locally where the Chiefs played host to Cardiff Blues before travelling to Glasgow Warriors.
