Meaty treat for the Chiefs
By Mark Stevens
Now we all know Exeter Chiefs possesses some of the biggest beef in terms of Premiership stock, but that was nothing compared to what was on offer at the nearby 50-acre Pipers Farm on the outskirts of the city.
Taking time out from their weekly training schedule, the Chiefs squad were recently invited down to Peter Greig’s family-run farm as part of a special team bonding day that saw the players tackle a series of new activities.
Not only did the group get to see the farm’s livestock and how Pipers make their produce, but Peter then engaged in doing some sheepdog work with his dog ‘Fly’ before they headed back inside for a spot of butchery.
During an informative afternoon’s work, the players were shown various carcasses hanging before being offered the opportunity to create their own cuts of meats – much of which was then devoured by the players during a final cooking and tasting session.
