About the Youth Section
For team news, reports and much more see the Youth Section Web Site by clicking HERE
The Youth Section runs teams from U7s to U16s, and the Colts (U18′s).
The Youth Section board meets at least once a month and finances itself from membership fees, grants and sponsorship. The Youth Section also benefits from a share of the Chiefs “Match Day Draw” which it runs for the Club at Chiefs home fixtures. The senior Club supports Youth Rugby with use of the Club’s facilities and amenities. This year the Youth Section has acquired a long lease at nearby Oil Mill Lane. Oil Mill Lane is a 13 acre site which will house 3 full sized pitches, car parking and plans for youth club house and changing facilities. Work commenced on pitch provision in April 2014.
All teams have a team administrator and coaching staff. The Club is continually striving towards RFU qualifications for all its coaches. First aid training is given to ensure that there is always qualified personnel on hand. The youth section regularly invests in new equipment, which benefits all teams of Exeter Youth Rugby Club.
Most teams play or train on Sunday mornings between 10am and 1pm. Training sessions for the younger teams, Under 7′s – Under 12′s, are run on Wednesday evenings from 6.00 p.m. to 7.15 p.m followed by a session for the U13-Under 15 teams until 9.00 p.m. The Under 16′s train alongside the Colts on Thursday evenings. Evenings sessions are at present held on the Club’s all weather, floodlit pitch at Sandy Park.
Matches are played on both the all-weather pitch at Sandy Park and whilst our home matches for Under 13 to under 18 teams are currently played a Wessex RFC, but once available will move to the new youth ground at Oil Mill Lane.
The Colts normally play on Saturdays – see the fixture lists on this web site for details.
Players are provided with Chiefs shirts on match days and are provided with food after each fixture.
